What a grand scheme! Keen cycling groups from the Gladstone to Gayndah area are promoting the proposed rail trail joining Calliope near Gladstone, to Gayndah. Tunnels, wooden trestle bridge and arched stone bridge, magnificent scenery, great tourism potential – and some of it is almost ready to go!
I was in Monto and Gayndah a couple of years ago when I first became aware of this ambitious project. It will be a shot in the arm for all the small towns along the route.
I’m not a great bike rider but I could be tempted to have another go if we went to a lovely rail trail. It would be great if this one is completed.

I agree. I’m very tempted to take it up again, just so I can use the rail trails. All I’ve done so far is walk between two towns on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Too slow!

The last time I rode a bike was into a hedge in a town in Germany! I have encouraged Mr ET in the past to take the bikes out to a rail trail so we could have another go in relative safety.
